About Us
3rd World Hope was set up after two friends travelled through Africa. What struck these two most was that despite the obvious desperate poverty, they were welcomed everywhere with open arms and encouraged to share in what little the local people had.
Our Vision
Having witnessed, first-hand, the amazing difference this first project has made to the lives of the children involved, we now aim to continue our work improving the lives of other vulnerable children. Fuelled by our initial success, we now want to replicate this model in villages across Africa. We believe that by supporting, educating and empowering local communities to ‘help themselves’ we can eradicate, to some degree, the hopeless cycle of poverty that exists.

What We Have Achieved
3rd World Hope is currently working in various areas supporting approximately 3000 people. We are providing support by cultivating vast areas of land for growing food and installing fresh water pumps in the hearts of these communities. In addition we have established a number of orphan centres and pre-schools and have developed local sports teams. We provide access to healthcare and education and distribute mosquito nets and clothing. During the dry season famines we provided tens of thousands of children’s meals. Our ‘Brian Ferguson Foundation’ provides local disabled people with tools and materials to make items which they then sell to earn a living. Hundreds of children are receiving a full education through support with school fees. By working closely with the chiefs and local people, we have ensured everything is done in keeping with local culture. With this ethos in mind, we have ensured all our projects are self sufficient. This is done by employing locals to run our centres and giving them the necessary training through college placements. We set up small businesses which fund the running costs of each project. These businesses include a chicken farm, a grocery store and a minibus service. Each business works together. The minibus generates income by transporting people across the district. It reduces the running costs of the projects by a third by eliminating transport costs. Supplies for the grocery store are picked up by the minibus thus reducing overheads and increasing profits. Feeds and vaccines for the chicken farm are also collected using the minibus. Access to hospitals for the children and community is now much easier. The minibus also allows the children to experience day trips and transports our sports teams to games.
